BLENDED LEARNING
FOR ALL STUDENTS
All students in K-8 receive chromebooks to enhance learning and technology skills. Teachers participate in ongoing training sessions to ensure that the best instructional strategies integrate the use of state-of-the-art technology solutions.

DUAL LANGUAGES
VIETNAMESE AND SPANISH
The Willmore-Spanish Dual Language Program - Students learn bilingual skills and cultural proficiency, giving them the opportunity to be competitive when exploring future occupations.

The Demille-Vietnamese Dual Language Program is the first in the state of California.

VAPA
VISUAL ARTS PERFORMING ARTS
Students within the Westminster School District receive music and arts instruction in all grades, K-8.

VIETNAMESE & SPANISH
PRESCHOOL DUAL LANGUAGE TODDLER PROGRAM
The Spanish Dual Language Toddler Program at Land Early Learning Center opened in early April. The new program follows a self-contained, 50/50 roller coaster model, where staff teaches half the day in English and half the day in Spanish. Toddlers (18 to 36 months) spend equal time learning in both languages. The Vietnamese Preschool Program is at DeMille.

CODE TO THE FUTURE
COMPUTER SCIENCE PROGRAM
Students at Finley receive specialized instruction in computer coding to explore cutting edge careers in the burgeoning computer science field.
Willmore is learning computer science skills along with Spanish language fluency.

ART CONTEST
VIETNAMESE ART CONTEST
Scholarship students receive for demonstrating their understanding of Vietnamese history and culture through essays and art.

RAPTOR
SCHOOL SAFETY COMMITTEE IMPLEMENTATION OF RAPTOR
A School Safety Committee was established to ensure that matters relating to student and staff safety are addressed in the most effective ways possible.

The Raptor program identifies and clears any person(s) entering school grounds, ensuring campus safety.

IBB
INTEREST BASED BARGAINING
Collaborative strategy to ensure staff have ongoing conversations centered around problem-solving.

GOLDEN BELL AWARDS
EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY i4 VIETNAMESE DUAL LANGUAGE
The CSBA Golden Bell Awards promotes excellence in education and school board governance by recognizing outstanding programs and governance practices of school boards in school districts and county offices of education throughout California.

Golden Bell Awards reflect the depth and breadth of education programs and governance decisions supporting these programs that are necessary to address the changing needs of students. We received awards in two programs:

DEDICATION
MENDEZ DEDICATION
Honoring historical figures, the Mendez family, for their contributions to ensuring equitable education for minority student groups. A Monument will be established in the district office and at Johnson gymnasium.

STATE BOARD AWARD
CALIFORNIA DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL
Hayden Elementary and Sequoia Academy received the California Distinguished School award given by the California State Board of Education to public schools within the state that best represent exemplary and quality education programs.

CSU FULLERTON
RECOGNITION: COLLEGE OF EDUCATION'S HONOR AN EDUCATOR
The Honor an Educator Event is an annual celebration of exceptional educators, created to recognize the impact educators have on students, the community and future generations.

The event will recognize educators who have made a difference in the lives of their students, the new National Board Certified Teachers and the College of Education Distinguished Educators. Westminster School District was recognized this year.

ARCHERY CONTEST
AFTER-SCHOOL ARCHERY CLUB
Middle School Students joined the After-School Archery Club and won Sixth Place at the State Competition.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR
CALIFORNIA COUNTY TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARDED IN 2020
Each school district sends their district's Teacher of the Year to complete at the County level. This year, Shay Reardon was selected as County Teacher of the Year in 2020.

AWARDS
GOLD RIBBON AWARDS
Nine out of 13 elementary schools received this award in recognition for making gains in implementing the academic content and performance standards adopted by the State Board of Education in the areas of English Language Arts, Math, English Language Development Standards and Next Generation Science Standards.

MAGNET SCHOOL
GATE STEAM AVID Magnet School
Sequoia Academy provides specialized instruction using GATE strategies, Science Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) programs to enhance student learning. The AVID program is also implemented to prepare students for college and for future career opportunities.

EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR
CALIFORNIA CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR: DEBBIE WATKINS AWARDED IN 2019
Each year the state recognizes a state classified employee of the year, quite an exceptional award. Debbie Watkins, a staff member in Nutrition Services, received this recognition.
